For When the World is Heavy.

Some word soup from my desk, to yours

I’ve seen a lot of folks explain how heavy they feel things are right now, and it is indeed a heavy moment. Things across the world are burning, and there is so much happening.

I wrote my poetry book in 2020 when I was filled with grief at the death of George Floyd and being sent home during what was set up to be the best semester of my college experience.

I felt heavy, and writing these pieces or compiling pieces I had written in the past allowed me to process so much. When I commissioned the cover art I felt like all my pain was visualized.

It’s so important in this moment to recognize that we cannot hold the weight of the world alone. When we feel the world is too heavy, we have to put it down. We aren’t doing this alone, we aren’t operating alone and remembering that is the key to us allowing to feel but not being overtaken by those feelings.
